We really love this coupe because it has a true classic style that's impressive inside and out, and at the same time, you'll drive it without getting nervous about a stone in the road or a cloud in the sky. After all, the driver's seat power adjusts to the ideal position, and you can show off the full pillarless hardtop profile without ever changing seats thanks to the full power window package. There are details you may update for a Sunday driver, like restoring the air conditioning or adding a modern stereo, but this is already a terrific personal luxury cruiser. And details like plenty of individual space and newer carpeting make for a solid cruiser.
The tan leather upholstery is highly original and quite a distinctive piece we rarely see from the 1950s. The sophisticated attitude continues inside.
And everything from the fender skirts to the whitewall tires adds to the elegance. The factory-correct Colonial White has a nice gloss, there's a proper hardtop profile, and the dip in the trunk line is the kind of daring piece they wouldn't try on new cars today. As Ford's personal luxury machine, this is a very sophisticated package. Plus, the Detroit maxim of lower-wider-longer is exactly what created these boulevard-cruising second-generation T-birds. Those bright beautiful bumpers, and how well they integrate into the design, remind us that style was king before government regulations stepped in. You see the jet age in the profile with the rocket-inspired sheet metal and tailfins. The 1959 Thunderbird was the crossroads of many different styles, and this one blends them all perfectly. It makes for an exceptional classic, especially at this affordable price.
